The first year of your baby’s life is so exciting as you watch them change every day, and it’s an honour for us to share their journey at the studio. From expectant parents nervously waiting for their baby to arrive, to tiny expressions from a sleepy newborn and infectious giggles as they learn to play with their big brother or sister: we love to capture every unique detail and stop time from passing for just a precious moment.
What’s the best age to book a photoshoot for my baby?
There are three key ages to capture during your baby’s first year: 5-10 days is perfect for sleepy newborn portraits showing their tiny features and tender moments with parents; 4-7 months is great for individual portraits of your baby showing their developing personality and their first smiles and giggles as they start to explore the world; then 12-18 months is the perfect time to include the whole extended family as they become more confident and independent.
Should I book a bump photoshoot?
A maternity portrait session is a lovely way to capture the unique shape of your bump and is a special experience to share with your partner. The photoshoot is usually very creative focussing on emotive silhouettes and glamorous portraits celebrating your pregnancy and nervous excitement waiting for baby to arrive.
What’s a newborn art photoshoot?
The first 5-10 days is a unique opportunity to capture your baby in peaceful portraits. Whether sleeping in your arms or curled up in blankets, these tender portraits focus on their tiny features and first expressions. Many parents personalise the shoot with first toys and homemade gifts from family such as crocheted blankets and knitted hats.
When’s the best time to capture smiley baby photos?
4-7 months is the perfect age for individual portraits of your baby as they can now sit independently and are usually full of giggles and thoughtful expressions. This is also an opportunity for them to have photos with their brothers and sisters as their relationship develops.
When can I invite the whole family?
When planning an extended family shoot, it’s best to wait until your baby is standing and can really be a part of the big family group portraits. This is also a great way to celebrate their first birthday!
What should we wear?
We’ll advise you what to wear to suit the style of portraits you want to create at your session. As a rule of thumb it’s best to choose simple, timeless clothing so that your portraits stand the test of time and soft neutral colours compliment young skin.
